Our  Shotokan Tigers Kata and Ippon Kumite Competitions will be held on Saturday the 24th March at the William De Ferrers Leisure Centre in South Woodham Ferrers.

As a ‘Friendly and relatively local event’ it is an opportunity for both new Karateka to get an introduction to competition and for those more seasoned competitors to help in their preparation for future KUGB Nationals and Regional Championships.

As a Competition for ‘Young Tigers’ there will be events for children aged 4-15 years old, ranging from White to Black belts to enter.    The competition will have Kata Events (both Team and Individual) split by Grades and Kihon Ippon Kumite Events (Basic one attack sparring) separated by age category.

Feedback from our last tournament reported:

“The atmosphere was fantastic, with all those competing encouraging each other and the Officials were actively involved in making sure those new to competition competed and completed their individual matches, reinforcing a positive experience for all”

For those traveling to South Woodham Ferrers for the first time the Sports Hall is located as part of the Secondary School and shares a pedestrian walk way with the small town centre that is abundant with Coffee Shops, Fast food restaurants and Cafes.

Clubs across Essex, Kent, London, Suffolk and Sussex will be in attendance. If you are a KUGB Club Instructor, and want to get your students involved, to receive an invite please let us know as soon as possible so we may send you the Entry Forms.

To help make the event a success, we welcome any Referees, Judges or Timekeepers and those wishing to become one of these ‘KUGB Officials’ who would like to practice and develop their skills.

Finally, we are looking for local businesses, individuals or clubs to help sponsor the Tigers Competition.   We are offering the opportunity for them to sponsor a category for £30.  Sponsors will be included in the Programme of Events, you will have publicity at the event and your representative will be invited to Award the medals to the winners for their chosen Category.  There will be also be publicity via our Website and Facebook before and after the Event. If you would like to help out or know of someone who liked to do this please let us know via Facebook or email

Competitor Forms, entry fees and Spectator fees will be provided shortly.
