Yesterday was a very special day for our Club winning two Awards at the Active Essex Sports Awards.

Mia Hillsden won the 'Young Sports Personality of the Year' following an outstanding year where she was a KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain) National Grand Champion on two occasions and then won Gold at the WSKA World Shotokan Karate-Do Association Championships in Italy.

Sensei Richard Naylor-Jones was also presented with an Ambassador of the Year Award for the volunteer work he has been doing with Essex All Together for Disability Sports.

The duo were supported at the event by Kevin and So Hillsden, Richard Kheder and Wayne Lottering.  It was a great evening and fantastic that both of these individuals had their achievements recognised in the world of sport.

Following their awards they were interviewed by both Heart Essex and BBC Essex.

Both Mia and Richard would like to thank everyone at the Club, friends and family who have supported them.  They had a great evening and are looking forward to seeing you all in the Dojo.

Well done Mia and Richard
