Chelmsford SKC News Article

Last Saturday a large number of Chelmsford members traveled to Lichfield to attend the second of the KUGB Central Region Kata Squad Sessions for 2015.   The Squad Coach was Sensei Frank Brennan (7th Dan), former World and European Kata Champion and current KUGB England Junior Squad Coach.

Megan Naylor-Jones who was unable to attend the Selection in February was given the opportunity, along with six other candidates from other KUGB Clubs, a final opportunity to be selected in 2015.   She was successful and now joins eight other members from Chelmsford on the Squad for 2015.

Immediately after this the Kata training began. Sensei Frank Brennan focused on four different Kata's during the two hour session working on the technical detail, speed, timing and quality of performance of each one.   As usual the sessions were both physically and mentally demanding to ensure those in attendance develop their Kata knowledge, skill level and technical excellence.

Squad members will attend a further six sessions with Sensei Brennan during 2015.  The next date being 18 April.
