Chelmsford SKC has two new Nidans (2nd Dan Black Belts). Matthew Dowling and Jamie Lottering traveled down to Paignton, Devon for a week long Karate Course with the KUGB Senior Senseis. They had been both been working hard towards their 2nd Dan Grading Examination in recent months and this week gave them the opportunity to train with six of the most experienced Senseis all helping them with their final preparations.
The Course entailed nine lessons (Monday to Friday) for all participants plus two extra sessions on the Tuesday and Wednesday for those wishing to Grade. So by the time the Friday examination came they had lived, eaten and slept Karate.

Both performed extremely well under the watchful eyes of Grading Examiners Sensei Andy Sherry (9th Dan) and Sensei Frank Brennan (7th Dan). The grading was very demanding on both Juniors but they responded with a strong attitude and spirit. At the end of the Grading, Sensei Sherry was please to announce that both Matthew and Jamie had passed their Nidan. The two of them received a lot of congratulations, not only from their Chelmsford supporters but also a large number of people who had been training with them on the Spring Karate Course all week.

Sensei Jane said that she was very pleased that not only did they both pass but also the number of positive endorsements that she received from the many Senior Grades in attendance about these two young Karateka was fantastic. Matthew and Jamie are very keen to continue their learning and development in Karate and both were in the Chelmsford SKC Dojo two days later (Easter Day) training.
