Sensei Andy Sherry with course participants

On Sunday 4th March, Sensei Andy Sherry (9th Dan), Chief Instructor of the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB), came to Chelmsford to hold a Special Training Course and Kyu Grading Examination at Dovedale Sports Centre.  As always, we are very proud to host Sensei Sherry, he is a long-time friend of the Naylor family and a great supporter of the Club,

Sensei Sherry is very well known within the Karate World and as a result there were a large group of enthusiastic Karateka from KUGB clubs all over the South East of England in attendance.  Sensei Sherry  was the first Shotokan Black Belt in the UK and a phenomenal competitor in his day.  Ask anyone and they will tell you that, even at 75, his personal training regime is second to none, so his course was always going to be inspirational.

The first training session was for Black & Brown Belts only, followed by a lesson for all grades.  Immediately following the training sessions the Kyu Grading examination began.  The Grading was well attended with a large number of Students grading from Chelmsford, Regashi Karate Academy Ipswich, Sudbury and the University of East Anglia.

We took over the whole Sports Hall

The grading was a great success so well done to everyone who participated.  Plus a big thank you to all those KUGB Clubs and their Students who travelled some distance to attend the training.
