Connor Payne traveled to Bath to attend the Karate Union of Great Britain's (KUGB) final Black and Brown Belt Course and Dan Grading Examination for 2013.

Connor trained on the KUGB's Free Brown Belt session with both Sensei Andy Sherry (9th Dan) and Sensei Frank Brennan (7th Dan) in the morning as part of his preparation for the grading.  He was also joined by other members from Chelmsford Shotokan Karate Club including Megan Naylor-Jones, Jessica Steadman, Ally Ward and Campbell Ward.

He then had a break to rest, recover and to finish his preparation whilst Sensei Sherry and Sensei Brennan took the Black Belt Class and put the Dan grades through their paces.   This included Jamie Lottering, Wayne Lottering, Pamela Pickwick and Jane Naylor-Jones from Chelmsford SKC.

After lunch, Connor entered the Dojo for the Grading with all the other candidates and emerged successfully two hours later a First Dan Black Belt.  Sensei Jane was there to congratulate him and said "This is a tremendous achievement for Connor who at 12 years old has shown the hard work and commitment required to reach this high standard".

Well Done Connor!
