Yesterday saw the National squads of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales compete in Chesterfield.
Chelmsford had five people representing England: Eric Austin-Coskry, Emma Burke, Jack Hillsden, Jamie Lottering and Teah Pope.

The day for them started with an hours coaching from England coaches Sensei Andy Sherry (9th Dan) and Sensei Frank Brennan (8th Dan) to hone their skills.
Then the competition began. Eric, Jack, Jamie and Teah were competing in the Junior Kumite events whilst Emma was in the Seniors. They all fought strongly throughout the day. Eric, Jack, Jamie and Teah were also in the Kata events. There are only two categories: Male and Female and so they all had to compete with the adults. Again their performances against more seasoned internationals were admirable.
Both, Sensei Jane Naylor-Jones and Sensei Richard Naylor-Jones from Chelmsford SKC attended and were extremely proud of each of them. Sensei Jane said “I am very pleased with everyone’s performances today. The England Coaches have spoken with each of them following the Championship and given them areas to work on to improve and develop. All five will be looking to build on their experiences in a bid to gain selection for the European Championships in November.
