Following his recent appointments as both the Karate Union of Great Britain's Disability Officer and as a Disability Sport Ambassador for Essex with @ActiveEssex, Sensei Richard has been undergoing some training to develop his skills and knowledge in this field.
In December he attended the Inclusive Community Training Programme organised by the English Federation of Disability Sport and Sports Coach UK with Sport for Confidence at Basildon Sporting Village.
Today he passed the English Federation of Disability Sport 'Delivering an Excellent Service for Disabled Customers' Course.
Richard said "In both of my new roles I am hoping to help increase the participation of disabled people in sport, physical activity and Karate. These two courses that I have completed have both been excellent and given me a greater insight into focusing on a person's ability not their impairment and how to make sport inclusive for disabled people. It is important that we break down barriers and look at what we can do to welcome and get disabled people active and enjoying sport".
