Chelmsford SKC News Article

On 14th September, members of Chelmsford SKC entered the Karate Union Of Great Britain Shotokan Cup in Chesterfield.

The Chelmsford Squad members competing were: Eric and Sharky Austin-Coskry, Rachel Cohen, Jamie Lottering, Megan Naylor-Jones, Pamela Pickwick, Teah Pope, and Jessica Steadman.   In addition, to those competing, we had Chief Instructor Sensei Dot and Sensei Jane plus a large group of supporters in the stands to cheer our athletes on.

This annual competition has individual entries ( no teams) and is open to Black and Brown Belts only.  As usual there were a large number of entrants from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Eire.  This included all the competitors who had been recently selected for the WSKA World Championships to be held two weeks later.

All of our competitors performed well, however the star of the day for Chelmsford was Jessica Steadman who came second in the Girls Individual Kumite (Aged 10-11).   Jessica, a Brown Belt, fought strongly all day and was narrowly beaten in the Final to take Silver. Well done!

Sensei Dot was very pleased with everyone’s performance and would like to say a special well done to all those who attended from Chelmsford SKC, both competitors and our supporters.
