Today we held an end of year Special Course for our Shotokan Tigers and High Grades.
The course started with a vocal warm up and introduction by all those who attended. There then followed a physical warm up and stretches to prepare for the Karate Classes.
Black Brown and Purple Belts were taken by Sensei Richard who taught Kata Jitte and Jitte No Bo. Those in attendance had the chance to study the Kata with and without the use of a Bo Staff. The use of the Bo Staff was to help develop a deeper understanding of the individual techniques to improve the overall performance of the Kata. (Following on from the Master Bunkai Class on Kata Jitte with Sensei Bob Rhodes earlier this month).
Meanwhile Sensei Jane set the low grades the challenge of working through the '12 Days of Karate'. Learning and developing their Karate techniques in a demanding routine.
The two classes then came together to do some light sparring.
The fun then began with a Mannequin Challenge where the whole class had to freeze and stay in their action pose whilst being filmed. Needless to say we had to have a couple of attempts at this.
It was then time to start the games and have fun with the bouncy castle. As a Karate Club we look to develop amongst other things - agility, speed and balance. So the races we had ensured all three were covered - including flying kicks!
