Kumite is one of the three main fundamentals of Karate and is necessary for both gradings and competitions so this workshop was not just for people who are good at Kumite. All those who attended had the opportunity to learn from two competitors who are currently at the top.
During the three hour workshop, both Sensei Blundell and Sensei Rawcliffe placed great emphasis on the techniques, drills and strategies required to help develop Kumite skills. The training was both physically and mentally demanding to ensure the students improved their confidence and application of Kumite. There was also time for a question and answer session at the end with the Senseis imparting some valuable knowledge and tips to improve performance to reach the top.
We were very proud to host them for their very first course. To anyone in attendance it was clear that they are not only very good Karateka but also Instructors and we look forward to welcoming them again to Chelmsford in the near future.
