Congratulations go to Mia Hillsden who has been selected to represent KUGB England at the World Championships in Italy in September.
Mia who gained selection onto the KUGB England Squad for both Kata and Kumite for a second year in succession has been working hard in training and competing at regional and national level for Chelmsford and at international level with KUGB England throughout 2017.
In all the competitions she has entered this year she has reached the finals including two KUGB International Grand Slams (February and July), 3 Golds at the Southern Regions in April, Bronze at the KUGB Nationals in May and 2 Golds at the KUGB National Youth Championships in July.
Mia is a second degree black belt and joined Chelmsford Karate Club in 2008 aged 5 to follow in the footsteps of her older sister, brother and father who are all Black belts with the Club. Mia has always shown potential and through her dedicated training she now joins an elite list of members who have gone onto represent their country.
Mia will not be the only person who trains at Chelmsford who has been selected by KUGB England for the World Championships - Mia will join Jack Somers who has been travelling from Ipswich since aged 9 to train with our Club. Jack is now a senior and is the current KUGB National Male Kata Champion and has Gold medals at both European and World level.
We wish both Mia and Jack every success at the World Championships.
