Chelmsford SKC News Article

Congratulations to Mia Hillsden, from Chelmsford Shotokan Karate Club, who has been successfully short-listed for the Essex Sports Awards 2013.

Mia will appear in the Essex Chronicle and Brentwood Gazette Paper Supplement on the 24 October, 2013.  The supplement will highlight her achievements this year - which we know include the following 2013 titles at National and Regional level:

  • KUGB National Youth Champion Kata

  •

  • KUGB National Youth Champion â€‹Kumite

  •

  • KUGB National Youth Team Kata Champion

  •

  • KUGB Southern Region Champion Kata

  •

  • KUGB Southern Region Champion â€‹Kumite

  •

  • KUGB Southern Region Team Kata Champion

  •

  • KUGB Southern Region Most Outstanding Competitor

This is an outstanding performance for a 10 year old who is competing both successfully in her age group and significantly, in some of the categories she enters, Mia has won against athletes aged upto 16 years old, many of whom are competing at European and World level. Something Mia cannot do until aged 14 years old!

Mia is an outstanding individual but also an important member of the Chelmsford SKC Team that has won the Children's Team Kata at both National and Regional level in 2012 and 2013.

The newspaper supplement will invite everyone to vote by coupon or text for the person or team they feel deserves to be recognised and win an award.  Then the top five that are voted will go forward to a panel of judges who will determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Our first step is to help get Mia into the top five voted by the 'readers'. Voting details will appear in the Essex Chronicle Paper and Brentwood Gazette on 24 October 2013. To help Mia please vote for her and, in addition, encourage your friends, family, colleagues to do so as well.

If you are on Facebook or Twitter please also spread the word and if they need any encouragement please direct them to our website to read the news over the past year and Mia's achievements.

Let us get Mia the recognition she deserves for an outstanding 2013!
