Chelmsford SKC News Article

On Saturday the 17th May Chelmsford Shotokan Karate Club will host an Instructors Workshop at Dovedale Sports Centre.

The KUGB has in place it's own National Instructor's Qualification Programme. As part of a Karateka's overall development, the Instructor qualification extends their skills and knowledge and builds into place best practice in their teaching of KUGB Karate.

This Workshop is designed to provide you with:

  1. An overview of the role and responsibilities of a KUGB Instructor.
  2. Guidance on ‘Best’ practice on how to teach KUGB Karate to all ages and levels.
  3. An overview of the skills and knowledge required to become,  and/or maintain the standard required to be, a KUGB Instructor.

This Workshop will be led by Sensei Richard Naylor-Jones (5th Dan), a qualified KUGB National Instructor since 1996 and KUGB Assessor since 2005.  Richard was a student of the late Sensei Charles Naylor (7th Dan and Vice Chairman of the KUGB) and continues to train under Sensei Andy Sherry (9th Dan), Chief Instructor and Chairman of the KUGB and his team of KUGB Senior Instructors.

This course is intended for those Karateka who have either:

already qualified as Instructor/Trainee Instructor

and/or

those Black & Brown belts who wish to study and qualify as a KUGB Instructor either now or in the future.

If you wish you participate in this course and plan to be assessed in the near future you should obtain a KUGB Instructor's Portfolio (£25).  This can be ordered through Sensei Jane. It is preferable to have obtained a KUGB Portfolio in advance but if for any reason you are unable to obtain and do not wish to miss out on this opportunity please contact Sensei Jane to discuss the benefits of you attending.

Following this course those wishing to qualify as Instructors can organise a suitable time and date to be assessed with Sensei Richard and this can take place at the Chelmsford SKC Dojo.

The cost for this 3 hour Workshop is £10 per person.  It is a practical workshop so please wear your Gi’s.   Light refreshments will be supplied.

We look forward to seeing you.
