Teah Pope has been selected to represent England at the World Championships in Liverpool to be held later this month. She was thrilled to be picked and found out whilst on a family holiday in Mexico.
Sensei Jane is very proud of Teah's achievement and explained that "this is fantastic news following all the hard work Teah has put in not only this year but over recent years. Her development this year has been outstanding. Earlier this year Teah went for England selection in January and was selected as a Squad member. Since then she has been attending National squad sessions every month with Sensei Andy Sherry (9th Dan). In addition, Teah has reached the Individual finals at Regional and both National KUGB events this year and was part of the Chelmsford Team Kata that were crowned National Champions at the KUGB Youth Championships in July. Teah trains every week, she rarely misses a lesson and with this level of dedication she has been justly rewarded with a place on the team."
Teah will be in the under 16 category for Kata. Last Saturday, at the end of the Grandslam competition, she was presented with her England badge and track suit by Sensei Andy Sherry. Teah brought her badge to the Dojo the next day to show everyone but we are all awaiting for It to be attached to the new Gi she has ordered!
Well done to Teah from everyone at Chelmsford SKC, many of whom will be there in Liverpool to cheer you on.
