Chelmsford SKC News Article

The Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) hold two Special Dan Courses every year that are Free for all its Black Belt members.  Last weekend in Bath was the second of these two events for 2016.

The course is led by the KUGB Seniors - Sensei Andy Sherry (9th Dan), Sensei Bob Poynton (8th Dan) and Sensei Frank Brennan (8th Dan). They are three of the best Karate Masters worldwide,  technical knowledge, history and understanding of Karate-Do is second to none.

Sensei Richard travels all over the country to train with these three Karate masters (and has been doing so for the past 30 years) to build and develop his knowledge under the watchful eyes of these Instructors.  Last Saturday was no exception as he joined over 150 Black Belts ranging from 1st to 7th Dan from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The two hour intense course focused on developing and executing Karate techniques, combinations and set forms to the highest technical standard.  Those in attendance pushed themselves to both their physical and mental limits, studying and striving for perfection.

Attendance on such courses is fundamental to the development of your Karate not only for your personal journey but also as an Instructor.  So, it was particularly pleasing see Chelmsford's Emma Burke who passed her Instructor's qualification last month also making the journey to Bath to train with the KUGB Seniors.

Following the course there was Dan Grading for those taking examinations for 3rd Dan and above.   We would like to congratulate Sensei Antonio Cadeddu - Chief Instructor at Sudbury SKC who successfully passed his 4th Dan Black Belt.  Antonio has been travelling to train at our Chelmsford Dojo for the past 6 months in preparation for his examination so it was very pleasing for both Sensei Jane and Richard to watch him pass.

Below are some photos from the day.  More can be found on both the Chelmsford Facebook the KUGB Facebook page.  A special thank you to the KUGB for use of these photographs.
