On Saturday 5 September Chelmsford were very pleased to host a Special Kumite Workshop with Sensei Chris Cray.

Sensei Cray's record as a Kumite fighter is phenomenal. He represented KUGB England from 2000-2009, winning gold at many European and World Championships on top of his 5 National titles.

During the three hour workshop, Sensei Cray worked on the techniques, drills and strategies required to help develop good Kumite skills.  The training was both physically and mentally demanding to ensure the students thought about what they were doing and why.  Sensei Cray also emphasised the need for confidence in the application and execution of their Kumite against an opponent.

There was also time for a question and answer session at the end with Chris explaining, amongst other things, his training routine, preparation for major tournaments and the importance of a positive mental attitude in Karate.
