On Saturday 19th November we were very proud to host Sensei Frank Brennan (8th Dan) to teach at our Chelmsford Dojo for the second of two courses we run with him on an annual basis.
Sensei Brennan is a world famous Karateka and we are very fortunate to have him not only in our Country but as a Senior Instructor in our national organisation - the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB). This point could not have been highlighted more - not only did we have students travel from across the South East of England to train with him but we had five Black belts and one Brown belt from Italy who had specifically made the journey to train with him. This is not as unusual as you may think, as we have had students from overseas, as far as Brazil, come to train with us at Chelmsford when Sensei Brennan visits.
The course itself was fantastic. From the start, Sensei Brennan set the pace and high expectations required of all those training on the day. KUGB Karate is renowned worldwide for its high technical standards and the excellent level of students it produces. This is as a result of comprehensive training in the three fundamentals of Karate - Kihon, Kata and Kumite. The three hour course covered each of these and high levels of speed, power, concentration and stamina were essential.
At the end of the course Sensei Brennan took extra time to talk and answer questions to those attending and, of course, was available for photographs. A big thank you to all of those attended from near and far it was great to see you all.
