The first session was open to all grades from Beginner through to Black Belt. In this class Sensei Brennan worked on some basic punching and blocking combinations followed by a focus on Kihon Ippon Kumite (one attack sparring).   Sensei Brennan emphasised the speed and power combined with the correct technique to ensure those in attendance developed their self defence skills against a variety of different attacks.

In the Black & Brown Belt class, the techniques and combinations were more advanced with the expectations and demands of the students far greater. Sensei Brennan focused on the preparation and execution of both kicking and punching techniques.  Students paired up to practice the drills that then evolved into Jiyu Ippon Kumite (semi free sparring).

At the end of the class Sensei Brennan tested the students by getting them to face a line up against multiple opponents to test not only the physical skills and stamina but also the mental attitude with such a strenuous exercise.
