2022 was a year of huge success for our club! Between England hosting the World Shotokan Karate Championships, the first time a National Black and Brown Belt Course was held here in Chelmsford, and our highest-attended Shotokan Tiger Nation Cup in history, we saw the club grow and our students grow with it!

Let's take a look back at a wonderful year!

january & February
In January several of our members attended KUGB National Squad Selections.
Congratulations to Raquel Amaro for being selected onto the National Kata Squad and to Nick Nelson, Alex Lockett, Ben Whiteman, Callum Brew and Christina Fortuna for being selected onto both the National Kata and Kumite Squads.

Our Super-hero half-term course went down a storm - good training with some hilarious moments.

The Grand Slam took place in Grantham. Congratulations to our members who took part and placed including Nick Nelson (2nd Male 18+ Kata), Alexander Lockett (2nd Male Under 18 Kata) and Christina Fortuna (Jt 3rd Cadete Female Kumite)

2022’s Lunar New Year marked the Year of The Tiger! And, of course, our Shotokan Tiger Nation was eager to celebrate! We learnt all about how Tigers represent braveness and strength, and then we applied this to our training. Go Tigers!

At the end of January we held a Referees and Judges Course where we learnt about flag signalling, scoring, and the rules of the area. This course was well attended, and we had our youngest attendee at 6 years old, proving it’s never too early to start learning key competition skills!

Central Region Kata Squad Selection took place in February. Congratulations to everyone who was successful.
