Kirsten's Karate journey began in 2006 at the age of 23.  She had been interested in learning about Karate and when she read about the success the Club had at a recent competition in the local newspaper, she decided to get in touch.

During her time with the Club Kirsten felt fortunate to be able to train under its founders, Sensei Charles and Sensei Dot Naylor as well as Sensei Jane and Sensei Richard Naylor-Jones and Sensei Richard Kheder.

As a brown belt Kirsten began helping with the Tigers classes and she felt it was great to see the next generation of Karateka start their journey.

in 2009, in Bath, Kirsten passed her Shodan grading with Sensei Andy Sherry and Sensei Billy Higgins and she was very grateful to have Sensei Dot there coaching and supporting her.

Kirsten had often spoken to her children about Karate, so when they moved back to Chelmsford they wanted to start Karate lessons.  I knew I wanted them to train back to Chelmsford Karate Club and reached out to Sensei Jane.

Although Kirsten was nervous about stepping back into the Dojo after 12 years, with the support of Sensei Jane and Sensei Richard, Kirsten's confidence grew and she was encouraged to take her Instructor's qualification.

Kirsten said "One of the things I love about Chelmsford Karate Club is that we are a Team and everyone encourages and supports each other, whether in competitions, gradings or during normal training."
