Sensei Alexander Lockett (2nd Dan)
KUGB Qualified Instructor
DBS Checked
National Squad Member

Alexander Lockett is a dedicated karateka who began his training at Chelmsford Karate Club at the age of five — one of the original Shotokan Tigers. Over the years, his unwavering commitment and discipline have led to outstanding achievements in karate both nationally and internationally.

Early Training and Development
Alexander has trained under the exceptional guidance of Sensei Jane and Sensei Richard, attending classes three to four times per week, all year round. What began as an after-school activity soon became an integral part of his identity, shaping him into a respectful, motivated, and disciplined young man.
He progressed from white belt to Shodan (1st Dan) by age 9 and achieved Nidan (2nd Dan) at 11.

Alexander has always taken, and continues to take, every opportunity to develop his skills, including participation in:

-
Club classes, courses and private lessons
-
The KUGB's Young Leaders Programme
-
Central Kata Squad
-
Torbay Easter and Lancaster Summer Courses
-
Regional, National and Black & Brown Belt courses
-
England National Squad training

Competitive Achievements
Alexander competed from an early age, at local, regional and national level earning his first national title in Ippon Kumite at the age of 8. It’s important to recognise however, that there were many more losses than wins early in his development. His resilience, dedication, work ethic, and commitment are key skills that good Karateka continually build and develop.
