JANUARY & FEBRUARY
January is always a busy month at Chelmsford Karate Club as we prepare for KUGB Squad Selections and our first gradings of the year. Once the Christmas break is over, we’re straight back into a full programme of classes, courses, squad training and gradings.
The following members were selected on to the Central Region Kata Squad for 2024.

We held our first grading of 2024 with Sensei Frank Brennan (8th Dan). What a terrific course & grading it was.
MARCH & APRIL
We were very pleased to welcome some special guests : Mark Harrington of Berlitz Manchester and Bryan Glover, Director of Programmes, West Ham United Foundation and his daughter Elsie.
Mark has been a sponsor of our International Competitors and a supporter of the Club in recent years and although he trained with us many years ago, this is the first time he has been able to visit us in Chelmsford for many, many years
Our Mother's Day Course was a huge success!

Sensei Richard and Sensei Jane were invited to attend a Community Evening at Hylands House, hosted by the Mayor of Chelmsford, Linda Mascot. The theme of the event was ‘Bright Futures’ and the Mayor had asked Councillors to nominate either a young person for their achievements or an adult who contributes significantly for the people of Chelmsford.
We were honoured to be nominated by Cllr. Bob Massey who is a huge supporter of our Club.Sensei Richard and Sensei Jane would like to thank Councillor Massey and the Mayor's Office for a great evening.

Team Chelmsford entered the 57th KUGB National Championships at the David Ross Sports Centre, University of Nottingham.

JULY & AUGUST
July started well with Team Chelmsford attending the Black & Brown Belt Course in Bath where two of our Team took their 2nd Dan gradings and passed. Congratulations to Sy and Ben.

We had a terrific weekend of training and grading with Sensei Frank Brennan.
Sensei Caroline McGrath taught a special Kumite Development Course at Chelmsford.
Raquel and Alexander competed in the European Shotokan Karate-do Championships in Porto, Portugal. Alexander came home with a silver medal in the Junior Male Team Kumite.
Chelmsford had amazing success at the final Black & Brown Belt Course of 2024 which was held in Chelmsford under Sensei Frank Brennan (8th Dan) and Sensei Garry Harford (8th Dan)
